Are you a skilled and passionate Cook looking to join a busy and vibrant hospitality environment? Wingin It is seeking two experienced Cooks to join our growing team and contribute to delivering high-quality cuisine combining Indian flavours with Kiwi classics.

 

This is a hands-on kitchen role suited to professionals who take pride in consistency, teamwork, and food excellence.

About the Role

As a Cook you will be responsible for the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes to a high standard, while supporting smooth kitchen operations in a fast-paced setting.

 

Key duties include:

  • Preparing, cooking, and plating menu items in accordance with recipes and quality standards
  • Assisting with menu execution, daily specials, and service planning
  • Ensuring food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards are consistently met
  • Monitoring food stock levels and assisting with ordering and stock rotation
  • Minimising waste and maintaining cost-effective kitchen practices
  • Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and work areas
  • Working collaboratively with other kitchen and front-of-house staff
  • Assisting with training and supporting junior kitchen staff as required
  • Complying with all Health and Safety and food control plan requirements

 

Pay and Hours

  • Pay range: $28 – $32 per hour (depending on experience)
  • Employment type: Full-time and permanent
  • Guaranteed hours: Minimum 30 hours per week
  • Positions available: 2 × Cooks
  • Location: Lake Hāwea
  • Business operating hours: 7 days a week 11am-9pm, including public holidays.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • At least two years’ relevant commercial cooking experience, or a relevant qualification in cookery or hospitality
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy service environment
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • A strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
  • A positive attitude, reliability, and a team-focused approach
