Kaipara Tavern is looking for one venue manager. Your working hours will be between 9am – 1:30am. This position requires working on weekends. You will be allocated either the morning or the evening shift and this arrangement can change in the future.
The Venue Manager is responsible for the comprehensive operational management of Kaipara Tavern. This role requires to oversee a diverse entertainment environment including bowling lanes, arcade systems, Pokie machines, pool, and a licensed beverage and food operation. The Venue Manager ensures the facility remains a safe, compliant, and profitable community hub.
You will be required to work a minimum of 30 hours/week and maximum 50.

Qualification/Work Experience
· A successful candidate will have at least two - three years of relevant work experience in hospitality/management or similar OR a relevant diploma or higher qualification in hospitality/management or similar.
· A valid NZ General Manager’s Cert and LCQ Certificate is required, or the applicant must be willing to obtain one.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
· Plan and supervise daily bar, restaurant, and function services, ensuring every guest feels that famous KT hospitality.
· Lead the charge on our entertainment calendar, including booking and supervising Karaoke nights, bowling games, pool tournaments, and sporting events.
· Act as the primary guardian of our license, ensuring strict adherence to liquor, gaming, and health regulations, as well as maintaining top-tier occupational health and safety standards.
· Manage member subscriptions, assess guest satisfaction, and act as the liaison for local community groups and sponsored teams.
· Select, train, and mentor a crew that works hard and has a laugh, ensuring staff performance meets our high standards.
· Keep the buzz alive by organizing newsletters and digital updates to keep our members informed about upcoming events and food specials.
· Oversee property maintenance and security arrangements to keep the deck looking sharp and our patrons safe.

About the Role
Kaipara Tavern is seeking 1 experienced and dedicated cook to join our team. This role is essential for maintaining the high standards of our food service and ensuring our guests enjoy a seamless dining experience alongside our entertainment offerings.
Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, the successful candidate must be flexible. Working hours will fall between 9:00 am and 1:30 am, including mandatory weekend and public holiday shifts.
You will be required to work a minimum of 30 hours/week and maximum 50.
Daily Tasks and Responsibilities
In this role, you will organize the preparation and cooking of food. Your duties will include:
- Preparing and cooking high-quality foods, including sliders, wings, loaded fries, and shared platters as per the menu.
- Safely operating deep fryers, grills, and commercial ovens to ensure snacks are served hot and fresh.
- Seasoning and garnishing and strictly controlling and adjusting cooking temperatures.
- Following established recipes to ensure consistency in taste and presentation.
- Advising regarding stock levels and kitchen supplies to ensure we never miss a beat during busy happy hours.
- Storing raw and cooked food items at the correct temperatures and ensuring the overall quality of all foodstuffs.
- Preparing food to meet specific dietary requirements, such as gluten-free or vegetarian snacks.
- Preparing and cooking snack menus for events/groups.
- Maintaining and following all health and safety standards as per government regulations and tavern policy.
- Train kitchen staff when required.
