Duty Manager – Thai Restaurant

Position Title: Duty Manager
Location: Auckland
Employment Type: Full-time / Permanent
Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
Pay Rate: [$25 – $30 per hour, depending on experience]

 

About the Role

 

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Duty Manager to support the daily operation of our busy Thai restaurant located in a high foot-traffic hub in Auckland.

 

The role involves supervising floor operations, ensuring excellent customer service, overseeing staff during service, and maintaining compliance with licensing and health & safety requirements.

 

Our restaurant offers dine-in, takeaway, desserts, and alcoholic beverages in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Supervise and coordinate front-of-house restaurant operations
  • Lead and support restaurant staff during service
  • Ensure high standards of customer service are maintained
  • Manage bookings, customer enquiries, and complaints professionally
  • Monitor staff performance and assist with staff training
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety and food hygiene standards
  • Assist with stock control and ordering
  • Open and close the restaurant as required
  • Support management with daily operational tasks

 

Skills and Experience Required

  • At least 1 year of relevant work experience in hospitality, restaurant supervision, or duty management, OR
  • A relevant NZQF Level 2 qualification (or higher), OR
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in any field to demonstrate key transferable skills such as problem-solving, communication, time management, teamwork, learning agility, adaptability, professionalism, and accountability.

Applicants must also:

  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be reliable, organised, and able to work under pressure
  • Be available to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings
  • Hold a current LCQ certificate and Manager’s Certificate (preferred and eligible to obtain one) 
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and evenings
  • Knowledge of Thai food and culture is an advantage
