Job Description:

SUPERCHEAP LIMITED T/A LA PORCHETTA PARNELL is looking for TWO talented COOK at Auckland, and where you will be responsible for ensuring the restaurant’s smooth kitchen operation and customer satisfaction by preparing delightful food. We guarantee a minimum of 30 hours per week with a pay rate between $28.00 to $30.00/- an hour. Required for our restaurant located at PARNELL, AUCKLAND, NZL.

Job duties:

Some of the duties and responsibilities you will be responsible for include:

  • Prepare and cook dishes according to La Porchetta recipes and standards
  • Produce fusion cuisine including deep pan pizzas and menu items inspired by Moroccan, Italian, and Indo-Kiwi styles
  • Ensure food quality by checking freshness and perishability of ingredients
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety to prevent cross-contamination
  • Regulate cooking equipment temperatures (ovens, grills, etc.)
  • Prepare, marinate, season, and cook sauces and food items
  • Portion, plate, and garnish food according to presentation standards
  • Store food in temperature-controlled conditions and follow FIFO stock rotation
  • Monitor stock levels, conduct stock counts, and report shortages or wastage
  • Maintain accurate records (stock, wastage, food safety, and compliance reports)
  • Supervise, train, and provide feedback to kitchen staff and junior chefs
  • Ensure all kitchen staff follow safety, hygiene, grooming, and uniform standards
  • Oversee prep work to ensure quality and consistency
  • Manage kitchen section operations and support overall restaurant workflow
  • Coordinate with delivery staff regarding customer orders
  • Ensure timely preparation and accurate order delivery
  • Maintain kitchen equipment and report maintenance needs
  • Follow all La Porchetta Food Safety, Health & Safety, and operational standards
  • Support menu development and implementation of new dishes when required
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through consistent food quality and service standards

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience to work for the role. However, qualification of NZQF Level 2 can substitute the requirement of work experience.
  • The selected candidate will receive detailed training.
  • Basic communication skills and basic knowledge of technology to operate the equipment.
  • Able to work independently and make decisions in the kitchen for the betterment of the business.
  • Pass random drug and alcohol tests (when required)
  • Clear criminal record
  • Have an excellent manner with people, especially team members.
  • Reliable and flexible to change.
  • Must be able to work across any shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Must be able to work in split shifts
  • Must be a fit, quick thinker, reliable, trustworthy, and self-motivated
  • Able to lift weights up to 25kg.
