Position: Full-Time Assistant Manager
Formosa is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Manager to join our team in Ashburton. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hospitality leadership experience who is passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and supporting a high-performing team.
About the Role
As Assistant Manager, you will work closely with the Restaurant Manager to oversee daily operations, ensure outstanding customer experiences, and help lead and develop our team. You will play a key role in maintaining service standards, supporting staff, and ensuring the smooth running of the restaurant.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Restaurant Manager in the day-to-day running of the venue, ensuring smooth service across lunch, dinner, and events
- Work closely with the Chefs and leadership team to help plan and refine menus, incorporating seasonal offerings and customer preferences
- Coordinate and oversee special functions, private events, and group bookings to ensure seamless execution
- Assist with ordering, supplier relationships, purchasing decisions, and pricing to stay within budget and maintain profitability
- Maintain accurate records of stock levels, inventory control, and daily financial transactions
- Lead, motivate, train, and support front-of-house staff, while coordinating effectively with kitchen teams
- Ensure the restaurant consistently meets health, safety, and hygiene standards, maintaining a clean, functional, and welcoming environment
- Engage with guests to gather feedback, assess satisfaction, and promptly resolve any service or dining concerns
- Assist with reservations, welcoming guests, and supporting order taking during service when required
- Take a proactive leadership role during shifts, acting as Manager on Duty when delegated
What We’re Looking For
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience, or a qualification at Level 4 or above with relevant skills for this customer facing role.
- Good interpersonal skils to understand and manage staff and customer expectations are a must!

- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to customer service excelence and continuous improvement
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in food safety and cleanliness
- A positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
Please note this is a ful time position with a guaranteed hours of at least 30 hours per week
