Position: Restaurant Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organise, direct and control the daily operations of the restaurant and takeaway business to ensure efficient and profitable performance.
  • Oversee food preparation, service delivery and customer service standards to ensure a high-quality customer experience.
  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate kitchen and front-of-house staff, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and manage staff rosters, allocate duties and monitor employee performance to maintain adequate staffing levels during operating hours.
  • Monitor sales performance, labour costs and operating expenses, and implement measures to improve efficiency and profitability.
  • Manage inventory levels and coordinate the purchasing of food, beverages, packaging materials and other supplies to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Liaise with suppliers and service providers to obtain quality products and services at competitive prices.
  • Ensure compliance with all New Zealand food safety, hygiene, health and safety, employment and licensing requirements.
  • Monitor food quality, presentation and portion control standards and work closely with kitchen staff to maintain consistency.
  • Handle customer enquiries, feedback and complaints in a professional manner and implement appropriate solutions to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain records relating to stock, sales, staff attendance, payroll information and operational performance.
  • Develop and implement operational procedures to improve workflow, service quality and business performance.
  • Assist in planning promotional activities, menu updates and pricing strategies in consultation with business owners or senior management.
  • Ensure restaurant facilities, equipment and work areas are maintained in a clean, safe and operational condition.
  • Monitor cash handling procedures, reconcile daily takings and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions to promote excellent customer service, food safety and workplace health and safety practices.
  • Coordinate with kitchen and service staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of customer orders during busy service periods.
  • Implement and maintain systems to minimise food wastage, manage stock rotation and maximise operational efficiency.
  • Perform other managerial and administrative duties as reasonably required to support the successful operation of the business.

Qualification or Experience:
Level 5 qualification or 2 years of relevant experience
