Cook (Chinese Cuisine)

Key Responsibilities

1.  Prepare and cook a variety of Chinese style dishes including fried rice, roast meats, sweet and sour dishes and other takeaway meals according to the restaurant’s recipes and standards.

2.  Operate kitchen equipment such as wok and other cooking appliances.

3.  Ensure food is prepared and served in a timely manner during busy service periods.

4.  Slightly modify recipes to meet customers' needs and requests (e.g. reduce salt, remove dairy).

5.  Monitor food stock and tell manager when something needs to be ordered.

6. Check freshness of food and discard out-of-date items.

7. Experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients.

8. Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area.

Job requirements

· Minimum two years of relevant experience in a commercial kitchen.

· Ability to work effectively in a busy and fast-paced kitchen environment.

· Availability to work nights, weekends and public holidays if reuiqred, as well as additional hours to meet business needs.

· Flexibility to work both lunch and dinner shifts, including split shifts if necessary.

· Good work ethic, reliability, and professional conduct.
