Requirements for the Role

  • NZQF Level 1 qualification or equivalent.
  • No prior experience required; training will be provided.
  • Ability to follow food safety and hygiene procedures.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work well in a team.
  • Available to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Able to work early morning and evening shifts as required.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Job Responsibilities – Fast Food (Pizza) Cook 

  • Prepare, stretch, top, and cook pizzas according to Pizza Pomodoro recipes and quality standards.

  • Prepare ingredients including vegetables, meats, cheeses, sauces, and other pizza toppings.

  • Assist with dough preparation, dough balling, fermentation management, and daily food preparation.

  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including pizza ovens, mixers, slicers, food processors, 

  • Prepare food accurately and efficiently according to customer orders and special requirements.

  • Ensure all pizzas and menu items are presented neatly and meet Pizza Pomodoro's quality and consistency standards.

  • Receive and process takeaway and delivery orders as required.

  • Receive payments from customers and operate the point-of-sale (POS) system when required.

  • Package takeaway and delivery orders accurately to ensure food quality is maintained during transport.

  • Receive and store food deliveries, checking quality, quantity, and freshness of products.

  • Assist with stock control, stock rotation (FIFO), and ordering of food ingredients as directed by management.

  • Maintain compliance with New Zealand Food Safety Regulations and the business Food Control Plan (FCP).

  • Clean and sanitise food preparation areas, kitchen equipment, cooking surfaces, utensils, and storage areas.

  • Follow opening, closing, and cleaning procedures to maintain a safe and hygienic workplace.

  • Assist in coordinating and preparing delivery orders to ensure they are ready for collection on time.

  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and efficient service.

  • Report equipment faults, food safety concerns, stock shortages, or workplace hazards to management promptly.

  • Take on any other reasonable duties within the scope of the position as requested by management.
