Requirements

  • At least 2 years of work experience at management level in any industry, including experience as an assistant manager or supervisor; or

  • A relevant NZQF Level 5 diploma qualification may substitute for the required experience; or

  • A Licence Controller Qualification approved by NZQA

Job Descriptions

  • Plans and reviews menus in consultation with chefs, taking into account customer demand, food quality, pricing, and operational requirements.

  • Plans, coordinates, and oversees special functions, group bookings, and catering arrangements.

  • Organises and controls the daily operations of the restaurant, including front-of-house and back-of-house activities, to ensure efficient dining and catering services.

  • Arranges the purchase and pricing of food, beverages, supplies, utensils, and cleaning products in accordance with budgetary requirements.

  • Monitors stock levels, supplier orders, wastage, and financial transactions to support accurate business records and cost control.

  • Reviews operating costs, controls expenses, and implements procedures to minimise waste and improve operational efficiency.

  • Forecasts future stock and supply requirements based on customer demand, seasonal trends, and business needs.

  • Assesses the quality of food, beverages, and other products, and liaises with suppliers to source suitable goods and maintain service standards.

  • Ensures dining areas, kitchen facilities, and service areas comply with health, hygiene, and safety regulations and are clean, functional, and appropriately presented.

  • Confers with customers to assess their satisfaction with meals and service, and implements improvements where required.

  • Handles customer enquiries and complaints promptly and professionally to maintain customer satisfaction and the reputation of the restaurant.

  • Selects, recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates waiting staff and kitchen staff.

  • Prepares staff rosters, allocates duties, and supervises staff performance during shifts to ensure smooth restaurant operations.

  • Develops and implements workplace policies, procedures, and service standards for the ongoing operation of the restaurant.

  • Promotes the restaurant within the local community and supports marketing initiatives to attract and retain customers.

  • Where required, oversees reservations, guest greeting, table allocation, and order-taking to support customer service operations.

Other Details

  • This is a full-time and permanent position

  • The wage payment is between $27 and $35 per hour, depending on your skills and experience, and you will be paid weekly

  • Holiday pay and sick leave will be paid according to the law

  • You will be working at Unit 2, 104 George Street, Te Awamutu 3800 

  • You will work according to a roster 5 - 6 days each week, with a guarantee of 30 hours (a maximum of 48 hours)
