We are looking for a motivated and reliable Cook to join our team in Napier. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing and cooking quality meals while maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen operations. This position offers a minimum of 30 hours and a maximum of 45 hours per week from Monday to Friday as per roster. You may require working on weekends and public holidays.
Job responsibilities
· Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients
· Set up workstations with required ingredients and equipment
· Arrange food on plates or wrap takeaways
· Assisting with maintaining food production supplies and materials.
· Menu planning, preparing food cost reports and recommendation for the most cost-effective recipes.
· Bake, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables and other foods
· Operate kitchen equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills and fryers
· Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishes
· Monitoring the quality of food taste and presentation of dishes.
· Staff training and Health & safety and Hygiene matters within the kitchen.
· Report and document any observed or known safety hazards, conditions or unsafe practices and procedures.
· Ensure compliance obligations are met in relation to Food Hygiene
· Innovation; bringing new ideas, creativity, techniques, and trends to the table.
· Collaborate with the wider team, share ideas to contribute to the business growth and exceed customer experiences.
Job Requirements:
· Should have at least 2 years of work experience in hospitality Industry Work Experience or Level 5 or above qualification (Subject Area Flexible)
· Good communication skills/time management skills
· Good personal hygiene
· Understanding of food safety standards
· Willing to learn and can bring their flavour
You must be reliable and physically fit.
Work in a fast paced and team-oriented environment.
Zero tolerance of drugs at workplace.
