Job Description:
AD Hospitality Limited trading as Novelty Sweets & Restaurant is seeking an experienced Restaurant Manager to oversee the daily operations of our restaurant business. The Restaurant Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of restaurant operations, ensuring excellent customer service, maintaining food quality standards, managing staff, and ensuring efficient business performance.
The successful applicant will play a key role in managing restaurant activities, supervising employees, maintaining food safety standards, controlling costs, and supporting the continued growth of Novelty Sweets & Restaurant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing the overall daily operations of the restaurant, including opening and closing procedures.
- Planning, organising, and controlling restaurant activities to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Supervising and coordinating kitchen, service, and front-of-house staff.
- Preparing staff rosters, allocating duties, and monitoring staff performance.
- Recruiting, training, and supporting employees to maintain high standards of customer service and food preparation.
- Ensuring customers receive excellent service and handling customer feedback, enquiries, and complaints professionally.
- Monitoring food quality, presentation, portion control, and consistency of menu items.
- Overseeing preparation and service of restaurant meals, sweets, beverages, and specialty food items.
- Ensuring compliance with New Zealand food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Maintaining cleanliness standards across kitchen, dining, and service areas.
- Managing inventory, stock levels, ordering supplies, and reducing food wastage.
- Coordinating with suppliers to ensure availability and quality of ingredients and products.
- Managing daily sales procedures, cash handling, and financial reporting requirements.
- Assisting with budgeting, cost control, pricing decisions, and improving profitability.
- Monitoring customer preferences and assisting with menu development and improvements.
- Implementing operational procedures to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Ensuring restaurant equipment is maintained and operated safely.
- Managing staff performance and promoting a positive workplace culture.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, employment requirements, and workplace procedures.
- Supporting promotional activities and business growth initiatives.
Skills, Qualification & Experience:
- Diploma Level 5 or relevant qualification (Level 5 or above) OR
- Minimum 3 years of relevant restaurant/hospitality management experience.
- Experience managing a restaurant, café, takeaway, or food service business preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene standards, stock control, and restaurant operations.
- Ability to manage busy service periods and maintain high operational standards.
