About the Role
Butterfly Group Limited is seeking Two experienced and enthusiastic Tour Guides to join our tourism transport team. The successful applicant will be based in Christchurch and will primarily operate guided tours throughout the South Island of New Zealand. From time to time, the role will also require guiding tours in the North Island, depending on operational requirements.
This position is ideal for a passionate tourism professional who enjoys delivering exceptional visitor experiences while travelling extensively throughout New Zealand.

Pay Rate: $32-$35 per Hour Depending on the Experience and Knowledge
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will perform duties including but not limited to:
- Escort individuals and groups on organised sightseeing tours throughout New Zealand.
- Welcome guests and provide professional orientation at the commencement of tours.
- Provide informative commentary on New Zealand's history, geography, Māori culture, wildlife, flora, fauna, attractions and places of interest.
- Explain the significance of landmarks, natural features, heritage sites and tourist attractions visited during tours.
- Plan and coordinate daily tour activities in accordance with itineraries and operational schedules.
- Ensure passengers are transported safely and comfortably between destinations using company vehicles.
- Monitor tour timing and coordinate with accommodation providers, activity operators and other tourism partners.
- Respond professionally to guest enquiries and provide accurate travel information and local recommendations.
- Assist guests with luggage, boarding and disembarking where required.
- Maintain accurate tour documentation, passenger records and daily operational reports.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety procedures, company policies and New Zealand transport regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip vehicle safety inspections and report maintenance issues promptly.
- Manage unforeseen situations such as weather disruptions, itinerary changes or emergencies while maintaining high levels of customer service.
- Promote a positive image of the company and New Zealand tourism through professional conduct at all times.
- Perform any other duties reasonably associated with the role of a Tour Guide.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must demonstrate:
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Tour Guide in New Zealand.
- Excellent knowledge of New Zealand's primary tourism destinations.
- Strong understanding of South Island and North Island touring routes and major places of interest.
- Excellent communication, presentation and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage tour groups from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Strong organisational, problem-solving and time management skills.
- Full and current New Zealand Driver Licence with the appropriate class and passenger endorsement (P Endorsement) required to operate small passenger service vehicles.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
- Willingness to travel extensively and remain away from home for multiple consecutive days while conducting tours throughout New Zealand.
- Knowledge of Indian National Language along with a Local Indian Language on top of English
