About the Role
HMT 26 Limited is looking for an organised and customer-focused Assistant Restaurant Manager to join The District – Restaurant & Bar. Working under the supervision and direction of the Restaurant Manager, you will assist with the day-to-day operation of the restaurant, supervise front-of-house staff during shifts and help ensure a high standard of customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Restaurant Manager in the day-to-day operation of the restaurant.
Supervise and coordinate front-of-house staff during daily service.
Allocate duties and monitor staff performance to ensure efficient service delivery.
Assist with staff induction and on-the-job training.
Support the preparation of staff rosters and shift coordination.
Monitor customer satisfaction and resolve routine customer enquiries and complaints, escalating complex matters to the Restaurant Manager where necessary.
Assist with stock control, stock ordering and receiving deliveries.
Ensure compliance with food safety requirements, workplace health and safety policies, liquor licensing requirements and company procedures.
Assist with cash handling, point-of-sale operations and end-of-day reconciliations.
Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely food preparation and smooth restaurant service.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and customer service throughout the restaurant.
Report operational issues to the Restaurant Manager and assist in implementing workplace procedures to improve efficiency.
Minimum Requirements
At least 1 year of relevant work experience
OR
NZ Register Level 2 qualification in Hospitality, Business or a related field.
Applicants must also have:
Previous experience in a hospitality supervisory or team leader role.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Good organisational and leadership abilities.
Ability to work effectively under the supervision of the Restaurant Manager.
Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
