We are seeking a Slaughterer to join our meat processing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for stunning and slaughtering livestock in a humane manner and preparing carcasses for further processing by removing hides, internal organs, and other inedible material. All duties must be performed in accordance with animal welfare, food safety, quality assurance, and workplace health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
 Operating restraining and stunning equipment to humanely stun livestock.
 Slaughtering livestock by severing the jugular veins of stunned animals to facilitate bleeding.
 Removing heads, hides, and head meat from animal carcasses.
 Slitting open, eviscerating, and trimming carcasses by removing internal organs, blood clots, bruises, fat, and other unwanted material.
 Operating switching controls to direct and transfer carcasses and meat cuts along processing rails.
 Cutting meat to separate meat, fat, and tissue from around bones.
 Dividing sides and quarters into standard meat cuts where required.
 Washing, scraping, and trimming carcasses to meet hygiene and quality standards.
 Maintaining high standards of animal welfare, food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety.
 Performing slaughter procedures in accordance with religious requirements (e.g. Halal) where appropriately trained and required.


Skills and Experience
Applicants should have:
 The successful candidates must hold 1 year of work experience OR a minimum Level 3 qualification
 Knowledge of humane slaughter practices and animal welfare standards.
 Ability to safely operate slaughtering equipment and use knives proficiently.
 Good physical fitness and the ability to work in a fast-paced processing environment.
 A strong commitment to food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety.
