Role Overview

We are seeking skilled and dedicated Bakers to join our bakery team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and baking a variety of bread and bread-based products in a commercial bakery environment. This role focuses on producing high-quality bread loaves, rolls, and similar baked goods, while ensuring consistency, food safety, and compliance with production standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Check cleanliness and readiness of equipment and work areas before production to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards
  • Inspect raw materials and ingredients to ensure quality and suitability for baking
  • Weigh and measure ingredients accurately according to recipes and production schedules
  • Prepare, mix, knead, and process dough for bread loaves, rolls, buns, and related bread products
  • Shape, mould, and prepare dough for baking
  • Monitor oven temperatures and baking times to ensure products are baked correctly
  • Load, unload, and manage bread during the baking process, including cooling and handling after baking
  • Operate bakery machinery used for mixing, dividing, moulding, and shaping dough
  • Maintain cleanliness of baking trays, equipment, and work areas throughout and after production
  • Ensure all bread products meet required quality, hygiene, and food safety standards

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must meet at least one of the following requirements:

  • A relevant NZQF Level 4 qualification; or
  • At least two years of relevant work experience in a bakery or similar environment

Other Skills Required

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Knowledge of food hygiene standards, stock rotation, and proper food storage methods
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment
  • Ability to work in early morning and weekends
