We operate a couple of Chinese restaurants in Christchurch. We are currently looking for two Chefs to join our team.

This is a permanent role. You will be required to work 30-50 hours per week. The working days may fall on any day of a week. Rosters will be provided to you one week in advance.

Requirements

  • At least 1-year work experience in Chinese cuisine.Or 
  • Any Cooking Certificate or above qualification. And 
  • Physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Responsible, reliable and hardworking.
  • Experience in Chinese cuisine is preferred.

Key Duties

  • Plan menus, estimate food costs and order ingredients from suppliers.
  • Prepare and cook Chinese dishes according to the restaurant’s standards.
  • Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
  • Discuss food preparation issues with managers, kitchen staff and waiting staff.
  • Store, freeze and preserve food properly when required.
  • Follow and enforce food safety, hygiene and kitchen procedures.
  • Assist with selecting and training kitchen staff when required.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and efficient kitchen environment.
