We are seeking an experienced Baker to join our bakery café in Waikanae. This is a full‑time, permanent role responsible for producing high quality bakery items, and cabinet products for daily service.

Hours: 35–45 hours per week (early mornings required)
Role Purpose
The Pastry Baker is responsible for preparing, baking, and finishing a wide range of pastries, breads, savouries, and cabinet items to a consistent, high standard. The role supports daily café production, wholesale orders, catering, and fundraising programmes. The Pastry Baker must maintain excellent food safety, efficiency, and reliability in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities

Produce daily pastries, breads, savouries, slices, muffins, scones, and specialty bakery items

Prepare doughs, batters, fillings, custards, creams, and glazes according to recipes

Operate commercial bakery equipment safely (mixers, ovens, sheeters, proofers, etc.)

Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards under the Food Act 2014 and Food Control Plan

Follow daily production schedules and meet deadlines for café service and catering orders

Ensure consistent product quality, taste, and presentation

Monitor stock levels, rotate ingredients, and assist with ordering

Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient bakery workspace

Assist with developing new products and seasonal specials

Work collaboratively with the kitchen and front‑of‑house team

Train junior staff when required
Skills & Experience Required

Minimum 2 years full‑time professional bakery , pastry experience or NZQF Level 3 or higher qualification.
- Knowledge of food safety, allergen management, and hygiene standards

Good communication and teamwork skills

Ability to work early mornings and meet daily production targets

No criminal background and must be of clean character.
