Mohindra Private Limited is seeking a reliable and experienced Restaurant Supervisor and Fast Food Cook to join our busy fast-food restaurant in Christchurch.

The successful candidate will supervise and coordinate the activities of front-of-house and staff while ensuring customers receive efficient, professional, and high-quality service.

RESTAURANT SUPERVISOR

Employment Details

  • Position: Restaurant Supervisor
  • Location: Christchurch, Canterbury
  • Pay rate: $25.00 to $30.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience
  • Hours: A minimum of 30 hours per week is guaranteed
  • Employment: Permanent, full-time
  • The position involves rostered shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
  • The restaurant is particularly busy during weekends; therefore, weekend availability is an essential requirement.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Restaurant Supervisor will be responsible for:

  • Supervising and coordinating the daily activities of counter, customer-service and Restaurant staff.
  • Ensuring customers receive prompt, courteous and efficient service.
  • Responding professionally to customer enquiries, feedback and complaints.
  • Preparing staff rosters and assigning employees to specific workstations and duties.
  • Monitoring staff performance and ensuring assigned duties are completed correctly.
  • Assisting with the recruitment, induction, training and ongoing supervision of staff.
  • Instructing employees on customer service procedures, point-of-sale systems and the handling of difficult customer situations.
  • Ensuring menu items, promotional products and prices are correctly displayed.
  • Monitoring stock levels and assisting with stocktaking and ordering supplies.
  • Receiving and checking incoming stock against orders and invoices.
  • Monitoring cash registers, EFTPOS transactions and daily cash-handling procedures.
  • Assisting with opening and closing procedures, including cash reconciliation.
  • Ensuring the service area, customer area and workstations remain clean, organised and properly presented.
  • Ensuring food safety, workplace health and safety, security and hygiene procedures are followed.
  • Coordinating with kitchen staff to maintain efficient order preparation and service.
  • Reporting staffing, stock, equipment, customer-service or operational issues to management.
  • Assisting the restaurant management team with the smooth and efficient operation of the business.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have either:

  • A New Zealand Register Level 2 or higher relevant qualification, or an equivalent overseas qualification; or
  • At least one year of relevant work experience in retail, hospitality, fast-food service, customer service or a supervisory position.

 

FAST FOOD COOK

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Fast Food Cook will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and cooking a restricted range of fast-food menu items according to established recipes and procedures.
  • Preparing chicken, burgers, wraps, fries, sides, sauces and other menu items offered by the restaurant.
  • Measuring, assembling and preparing ingredients before cooking.
  • Marinating, seasoning, coating and portioning food ingredients as required.
  • Operating fryers, grills, ovens, hotplates and other commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Monitoring cooking times and temperatures to ensure food is cooked safely and consistently.
  • Ensuring food is prepared according to customer orders and dietary instructions.
  • Checking the quality, freshness, portion size and presentation of prepared food.
  • Packing takeaway food and beverages into appropriate containers and trays for service.
  • Coordinating with counter and customer-service staff to complete orders accurately and promptly.
  • Monitoring ingredient and food stock levels and advising the supervisor when supplies need to be replenished.
  • Rotating stock and storing ingredients in accordance with food safety requirements.
  • Receiving and checking food supplies when required.
  • Cleaning kitchen workstations, food preparation areas and cooking equipment.
  • Cleaning cooking utensils, trays and general kitchen equipment.
  • Disposing of waste safely and maintaining clean waste-storage areas.
  • Following food safety, hygiene, allergen-control and cross-contamination procedures.
  • Maintaining required food temperatures and completing relevant food-safety checks.
  • Following workplace health and safety procedures when handling hot equipment, cooking oils and cleaning products.
  • Assisting with opening, closing and general kitchen preparation duties.
  • Performing other reasonable kitchen duties required for the efficient operation of the restaurant.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have either:

  • A New Zealand Register Level 1 or higher relevant qualification, or an equivalent overseas qualification; or
  • At least six months of relevant work experience in a fast-food outlet, commercial kitchen, takeaway business, café or restaurant.

Applicants must also:

  • Be available to work weekends, evenings and public holidays as required.
  • Be reliable, punctual and able to work efficiently in a busy kitchen.
  • Be able to follow recipes, preparation procedures and food-safety requirements.
  • Have good personal hygiene and an understanding of commercial kitchen cleanliness.
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Be physically fit to stand for extended periods, lift supplies and work around hot kitchen equipment.
