We are a bistro offering cabinet food and all-day breakfast options in a fast-paced environment. Located in Christchurch, New Zealand, and we are looking for 2 x Cooks to join our team. You must be skilled, hardworking, and could work in high pressure environments. We offer competitive pay, between $24.00 to $30.00 (depending on experience) and a minimum of 30 hours per week. This is a fulltime role; work is as per the roster.

Job Description

  •  Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality
  •  Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
  • Preparing and cooking food
  •  Seasoning food during cooking
  •  Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes
  • Storing food in temperature-controlled facilities
  • Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
  • Assisting the Head Chef with menu planning and food preparation.
  • Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness.
  • Following recipes and food preparation methods as instructed by the Head Chef.
  • Working independently in the kitchen, including opening and closing duties, as required by the business.

Qualifications & experience

  •  Minimum 1 year of experience working as a cook or level 4 or higher qualification in hotel management, cookery or any related industry
  • Ability to multitask in a high-pressure kitchen environment
  •  Strong teamwork and communication skills
  •   Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
