Registered Nurse - Perioperative Department, Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldiers Hospital

About the Role

As a Registered Nurse in the Perioperative Day of Surgery Admission and Discharge Unit (DOSA), you will provide high-quality pre and postoperative nursing care, supporting patients and their whānau throughout their surgical journey. Using your advanced assessment and clinical decision-making skills, you will undertake comprehensive patient assessments, coordinate care, provide education, and ensure patients are prepared for surgery and safely discharged following their procedures.

About the Team/Service/Location

Our Perioperative Unit's Day of Surgery Admission and Discharge Service (DOSA) plays a vital role in supporting patients before and after surgical procedures. We are a collaborative and supportive team dedicated to delivering safe, efficient, and patient-centred care, ensuring every patient receives a high-quality experience throughout their surgical journey.

About You

As a Registered Nurse, you will bring:

• Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
• Postgraduate experience in surgical nursing.
• Advanced assessment, clinical decision-making, and communication skills.
• The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
• A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, professional development, and delivering high-quality patient-centred care.

Desirable:

• A current PDRP portfolio.
• Advanced life support training, such as CORE Advanced.
