Job Description

Ramen Takara is a Japanese noodle house established in 1978, serving authentic Japanese ramen and a range of traditional Japanese dishes, including our famous pork gyoza and karaage chicken.

The successful applicant will work under the supervision of experienced chefs and assist with the efficient day-to-day operation of the kitchen.

 

Location:

  • 4 Anzac Road, Browns Bay, Auckland;
  • 272 Ponsonby Road, Ponsonby, Auckland
  • The employer's mobile food truck operating at various locations and events throughout the Auckland region.

 

Working Hours:
30–40 hours per week

The restaurant operates from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm, Tuesday to Sunday. Working hours will be allocated on a roster and may include evenings, weekends and public holidays.

 

Hourly Rate:
NZD $25.00–$28.00 per hour

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean kitchen, food preparation areas and scullery;
  • Wash dishes, cooking utensils, kitchen equipment and work surfaces;
  • Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards throughout the kitchen;
  • Receive, check and store food supplies and stock;
  • Assist chefs with basic food preparation, including washing, cutting and preparing ingredients;
  • Assist chefs with the preparation of simple food items under their direction;
  • Heat, toast and portion simple food items as instructed by chefs;
  • Plate, pack and present takeaway and dine-in orders;
  • Assist with stock rotation and general kitchen organisation; and
  • Perform other general kitchen duties as required.

 

Requirements

The successful applicant will:

  • Be reliable, punctual and well organised;
  • Be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced commercial kitchen;
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team;
  • Be passionate about Japanese cuisine and willing to learn;
  • Be physically fit and capable of standing for long periods and performing manual kitchen duties;
  • Have at least one year's experience working in a commercial kitchen or similar hospitality environment; and
  • Be available to work weekday and weekend dinner shifts (5:00 pm until late), as well as other rostered shifts when required.
  • Holding a recognised Food Hygiene or Food Safety Certificate is advantageous.
