Job Description
Ramen Takara is a Japanese noodle house established in 1978, serving authentic Japanese ramen and a range of traditional Japanese dishes, including our famous pork gyoza and karaage chicken.
The successful applicant will work under the supervision of experienced chefs and assist with the efficient day-to-day operation of the kitchen.
Location:
- 4 Anzac Road, Browns Bay, Auckland;
- 272 Ponsonby Road, Ponsonby, Auckland
- The employer's mobile food truck operating at various locations and events throughout the Auckland region.
Working Hours:
30–40 hours per week
The restaurant operates from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm, Tuesday to Sunday. Working hours will be allocated on a roster and may include evenings, weekends and public holidays.
Hourly Rate:
NZD $25.00–$28.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Clean kitchen, food preparation areas and scullery;
- Wash dishes, cooking utensils, kitchen equipment and work surfaces;
- Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards throughout the kitchen;
- Receive, check and store food supplies and stock;
- Assist chefs with basic food preparation, including washing, cutting and preparing ingredients;
- Assist chefs with the preparation of simple food items under their direction;
- Heat, toast and portion simple food items as instructed by chefs;
- Plate, pack and present takeaway and dine-in orders;
- Assist with stock rotation and general kitchen organisation; and
- Perform other general kitchen duties as required.
Requirements
The successful applicant will:
- Be reliable, punctual and well organised;
- Be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced commercial kitchen;
- Be able to work effectively as part of a team;
- Be passionate about Japanese cuisine and willing to learn;
- Be physically fit and capable of standing for long periods and performing manual kitchen duties;
- Have at least one year's experience working in a commercial kitchen or similar hospitality environment; and
- Be available to work weekday and weekend dinner shifts (5:00 pm until late), as well as other rostered shifts when required.
- Holding a recognised Food Hygiene or Food Safety Certificate is advantageous.
