Assistant Restaurant Manager

The guardian bar and grill  is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our team in Auckland.

The successful candidate will support the Restaurant Manager in overseeing the restaurant’s daily operations, supervising staff, maintaining excellent customer service, and ensuring compliance with food safety and workplace requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with managing the restaurant’s daily operations.
• Supervise, train, and support front-of-house and kitchen staff.
• Prepare staff rosters and allocate duties.
• Ensure customers receive prompt and professional service.
• Respond to customer enquiries, feedback, and complaints.
• Monitor food quality, presentation, and service standards.
• Assist with stock ordering, inventory control, and supplier coordination.
• Monitor operational costs, wastage, and restaurant expenses.
• Process payments and assist with cash handling and end-of-day reconciliation.
• Ensure the restaurant is clean, organised, and properly maintained.
• Help implement promotional and marketing activities.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, health and safety, and liquor licensing requirements.
• Support recruitment, staff training, and performance management.
• Assist the Restaurant Manager with administrative and reporting duties.
• Perform the Restaurant Manager’s duties when required.

Skills and Experience

The successful applicant should have:

• 1 year experience or Level 2 certificate.
• 30 hours per week and pay rate 25 to 30 Per hour
• Strong customer-service and communication skills.
• The ability to supervise and motivate a diverse team.
• Good organisational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements.
• The ability to work under pressure in a busy restaurant environment.
• Basic computer, cash-handling, and stock-control skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings, late night shifts ,weekends, and public holidays as required.
