The opportunity:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated physiotherapist to join our experienced Orthopaedic Physiotherapy team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop advanced skills in acute orthopaedics, spinal cord injury rehabilitation, and emergency department physiotherapy within one of New Zealand's largest and busiest health services.
There are opportunities to participate in quality improvement initiatives, service development projects, teaching, research, and clinical supervision, supporting both professional, career development, leadership and management skills.
Your clinical caseload will be varied and rewarding, including acute orthopaedic trauma, elective orthopaedic surgery, spinal cord injury rehabilitation, and emergency department physiotherapy. Counties Manukau is the Northern Regional Spinal Cord Injury Centre and provides specialist acute SCI services, including a dedicated four-bed SCI Unit.
If successful, you will be required to contribute to the supervision, training and development of rotational staff, physiotherapy students and rehabilitation assistants. The role also includes weekend and on-call duties.
You will be supported by the Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Section Head, the Allied Health Physiotherapy Professional Leader, and a team of experienced senior physiotherapists, within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.

Essential:
- NZ Registration with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Minimum of 3 years clinical experience
- Minimum of 8 months orthopaedic experience including basic acute respiratory experience
- Full drivers licence
- Supervision of rotational staff and students
Desirable experience:
- Experience working with Acute Spinal Cord Injury patients
- Experience working in the emergency department
- Experience of audit and research
