We are a busy medical centre made up of a two-bed urgent treatment room and GP / Nurse clinic rooms. We are located in Cromwell, Central Otago. Our team consists of Registered Nurses, Administrative staff, Doctors and Nurse Practitioners. We also have Physiotherapists working out of our medical centre and we have capacity to carry out X – Ray's and ultrasounds. We work collaboratively to provide safe, timely and effective care for our patients.

About the Graduate Nursing Role

As a graduate nurse here at CMC you will be supported to develop your nursing skills in acute medicine in our urgent treatment room where your daily duties will include triaging patients, liaising with ambulance crews, and working together with the on-call doctor to assess and treat patients with a wide variety of acute medical concerns or injuries. Common presentations in our urgent care include respiratory distress, cardiovascular events, neurological concerns and injuries / ACC presentations.

You will also be supported in developing your knowledge in managing chronic health conditions. When working in clinic your daily duties will include venipuncture, IV infusions, immunizations, diabetes reviews, ECG's and wound reviews.

You will also have the opportunity to assist our Dr's with minor surgeries, these will include skin cancer removals, punch biopsies, wound wash outs / closure with sutures and long-term contraception insertion / removals.

Requirements (Mandatory)

  • A bachelor's degree in nursing
  • A current annual practicing certificate with the New Zealand Nursing Council.
  • You must have full legal working rights in New Zealand.
