Registered Nurse - Acute Orthopaedics
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Acute Orthopaedics team on Ward B4, Christchurch Hospital Campus. You will work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in a busy acute environment. This role provides the opportunity to further develop your orthopaedic nursing knowledge and skills while caring for patients with a diverse range of acute orthopaedic needs.
You will be well supported in your professional development, with a dedicated Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist providing clinical guidance, education and opportunities to grow your practice within acute orthopaedic nursing.
This role is a 0.8FTE (32 hours per week) fixed-term position available due to parental leave from November 2026 to May 2027.
Ward B4 is a 32-bed Acute Orthopaedic ward based at our Waipapa Building and is one of two acute orthopaedic wards within Christchurch Hospital Campus. Our experienced and supportive team works collaboratively to provide excellent nursing care throughout each patient's journey, from acute admission through to recovery and discharge.
You will be an enthusiastic and adaptable Registered Nurse who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team. You will bring strong communication and organisational skills, sound clinical judgement and a genuine interest in acute orthopaedic nursing.
At least three years' orthopaedic nursing experience is preferred. Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Excellent communication, interpersonal, time management and organisational skills. Ability to adapt to a busy clinical environment and take a flexible, solution-focused approach. Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
