Based at Christchurch Women's Hospital

0.7FTE (24 and 32 hours alternating weeks)

Rotating rostered shifts across Monday - Sunday, morning and afternoon

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone wanting to work in Women's Health and to help provide a service supporting women.

We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to assist the nursing team with patient care whilst maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

The role of a Healthcare Assistant varies from day to day, but you will be there to assist the nursing team with a variety of tasks on the ward which could include:

  • Assisting with basic patient care (e.g. hygiene and mobility assistance)
  • Keeping the environment tidy and organised
  • Ordering and restocking of supplies
  • Ensuring that patients have the best experience possible

About the Service

We are a 27-bed Gynaecology Ward for Gynae surgical/medical patients includes antenatal and post-natal mothers and babies. We also have 5 beds in Gynaecology Assessment Unit (GAU). We have a high turnover of patients and work within a fast-paced environment.

About You

Our Healthcare Assistants are an integral part of our team and we are looking for candidates who have excellent communication skills, a high level of confidentiality, a positive attitude and the ability to use their initiative. You will enjoy working as part of the gynaecology team, being busy and don't mind that the role can be at times physically demanding.

Skills and Experience:

  • Healthcare Assistant experience or similar is desirable.
  • Ability to work across morning and afternoon shifts, Monday to Sunday
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage well
  • Effective problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Initiative and a proactive approach to work
