About the Role

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will provide quality, compassionate patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Your daily responsibilities help maintain a safe, clean, and supportive clinical environment for patients on their recovery journey.

This position is a fixed term contract, working full time (40 hours per week). This role is offered on a rotating roster that includes morning, afternoon and night shifts.

About the Team/Service/Location

Our team in Te Poutama Arawhiti includes an 8-bed Acute Stroke Unit and a 31-bed ward offering rehabilitation and specialised health services for older people. We work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment, striving to provide the highest quality rehabilitation services and maximising each patient's functional recovery. Our team values teamwork, compassion, and innovation in delivering exceptional care.

About You

The ideal candidate is a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse with an interest in acute stroke care and rehabilitation. Strong communication skills, a collaborative approach, and a passion for supporting patients through recovery are essential.

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or acute hospital setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Physically capable of meeting the demands of an active role (lifting, standing, walking)
  • Flexibility to work a rotational roster, including morning afternoon and weekend shifts
