We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced pharmacist to join our Pharmacy Service as an Education and Training Pharmacist on a fixed-term basis to provide parental leave cover for 12 months.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead and support pharmacy education and workforce development across our service while contributing to the delivery of safe and effective patient care.
About the Role
As the Education and Training Pharmacist, you will play a key role in developing, coordinating and delivering education programmes for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. You will support professional development, competency assessment, orientation programmes and training initiatives that strengthen clinical practice and patient outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading pharmacy education, training and competency programmes
- Supporting intern pharmacists, early career pharmacists and assisting with pharmacy technician development where appropriate.
- Facilitating continuing professional development activities
- Working with the Pharmacy Team Leader to contribute to workforce capability planning and professional practice initiatives
- Working collaboratively with pharmacy leadership, clinical teams and external education providers
- Co-ordinating the student placement programme and timetable with the education providers
- Supporting quality improvement, medication safety and service development activities
About You
We are looking for someone who is passionate about education and developing others, with excellent communication and leadership skills.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Registration with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate
- Significant hospital pharmacy experience
- Demonstrated experience in clinical education, training or preceptorship
- Strong facilitation, coaching and mentoring skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational abilities
- A commitment to continuous quality improvement and professional development
- Experience in programme development and competency assessment would be advantageous
