About the Role

If you are a Registered Midwife and want to be part of a dynamic and committed team of health workers providing an innovative approach to healthcare in a rural setting, and you are seeking a new challenge or to broaden your midwifery experience we may have the role for you!

We have a fixed term part time position working 32 hours per fortnight (0.4 FTE) rostered and rotating hours. The reason for the fixed term is to provide parental leave cover for up to 6 months.

Midwifery is a dynamic and challenging career. At Wairarapa Ata Rauru we have hospital-based vacancies with opportunities for part-time positions including new graduate, core roles and for those midwives wishing to return to practice. The salary range for this role is as per MECA/ Meras step 3-7 depending on experience - pro rata for part time.

About the Team

Join a fun, busy and dedicated team and make a difference to our mothers and their whānau in the Wairarapa region. The Wairarapa has a proven track record of developing innovative models of care through collaboration of primary and secondary health providers. Our maternity services provide care for birthing women in the Wairarapa region, with just under 500 births per annum. Midwives can work across their scope of practice by providing care to ante and postnatal inpatients and outpatients and work alongside their midwife LMC colleagues to provide secondary intrapartum care. We pride ourselves on being quality and improvement focussed with whānau always at the forefront of our care.

New Zealand Registered Midwife

A current practising certificate with the Midwifery Council of New Zealand

Evidence of effective, competent midwifery practice or, for recent midwifery graduates, evidence of enrolment in the Midwifery First Year of Practice Programme

The ability to work effectively within a busy environment with competing demands and enjoy being part of an incredible team who provide exceptional care for all whānau
