Accident & Medical Registered Nurse

Kaitaia Hospital Accident & Medical Department offers permanent, full time or part time positions working Monday to Sunday rostered shifts. Be part of a team providing clinical triage nursing for Kaitaia Hospital after hours.

About the Role:

The Accident & Medical Registered Nurse role is to meet the emergency needs of patients and their family using contemporary nursing care which is safe, appropriate and effective. The care is based on comprehensive assessment, ensures continuity and is patient centred, culturally sensitive and evidence-based.

About the Team/Service/Location:

Kaitaia Hospital is Health New Zealand’s northernmost hospital. It is a general hospital serving a widely scattered population. The 20 bed hospital has a general ward, maternity and emergency ward with all the supporting services, and provides a substantial community health service. The Accident and Medical Department is fully functional for presentations in evenings and weekends. They work on a shift roster which will involve evenings and weekends.

About You:

As a Registered Nurse, you need to have excellent communication skills, who can thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments and demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in the face of changing priorities. Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practicing Certificate, current full drivers licence, time management skills, collaborates with fellow team members and work groups to achieve specific objectives, communication skills both written and verbal, a commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Maori. Previous experience in a rural clinical setting would be beneficial, however not essential to apply.
