Section Leader, Chromatography, LabPlus
Te Toka Tumai Auckland has an exciting opportunity for a Section Leader to join our Chromatography team within the Specialised Chemical Pathology department. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist to manage and provide leadership within a dynamic, high-performing team that is committed to delivering excellent patient care.
As Section Leader, you will take a key role in providing positive leadership and support to the Clinical Scientist, Scientific Officer, Technical Specialists and rostered staff, driving continuous improvement and innovation across the service.
Key requirements are to manage the staffing, workload and resources in the area ensuring high-quality service delivery that meets clinical, operational, and ISO 15189 accreditation requirements, whilst fostering a positive and inclusive team culture grounded in Te Toka Tumai values.
You will champion and promote continual improvement leading the implementation of service enhancements and actively contribute to departmental strategic and business planning. You will also support staff development through coaching, training, and competency assessment, creating a positive culture and environment.
This position is full time and will include some weekend work and on-call duties.
About you
You are an experienced and collaborative leader who brings technical expertise, a strong commitment to quality and equity, and a genuine passion for supporting people and building inclusive, high-performing teams. You will have current registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand and a practising certificate.
You will have a sound understanding of laboratory quality systems, health and safety, and accreditation requirements. Ideally you will have experience in a position managing personnel budgets, workflow and resources and leading quality improvement initiatives.
You lead by example, with a strong attention to detail, a focus on quality outcomes, and a proactive, can-do approach. You will be proactive and display agility and adaptability.
