The Role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi
This role is for a permanent awake night shift role: Sunday – Thursday from 11pm – 7.30am, based in Whanganui.
Join our 24/7 Housing and Recovery team in an awake night role where calm, care and practical support make a real difference.
You'll be a steady, trusted presence overnight, supporting tāngata whai ora to feel safe, settled and connected as they work towards independent living, wellbeing and recovery in the community.
Working from a trauma-informed lens, you'll bring optimism, flexibility and strong communication to build professional, friendly relationships while maintaining clear boundaries.
You'll be part of a motivated team committed to wellbeing and sustainability, with coaching and mentoring from an experienced Team Coach who leads the service.
You'll also:
- Provide individualised, culturally safe support.
- Share clear notes and thoughtful handovers so support feels consistent and connected.
- Help create a safe, welcoming and well-prepared overnight environment for the people we support and the day team.
About You | Mōu
You're a natural when it comes to caring and empathy and understand the power of working in a recovery-focused way, where individuals take charge of their own journey, making you an ideal fit for this role.
In addition,
- You must hold the Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognized equivalent or willing to work towards it
- Hold a current and full driver's licence
- Hold a current comprehensive first aid certificate covering units 6400, 6401 and 6402 or be willing to obtain one within 3 months of employment
- Have knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi
