Support Worker
Care for our tāngata whai ora during the day to ensure they have what they need. Make a real difference on our AM shift in Whanganui, supporting people through short-term, recovery-focused crisis respite care while using your Level 4 qualification, compassion, and practical skills to create a safe and supportive environment.
The opportunity: We are looking for an experienced support worker to join our 24/7 crisis respite team. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to enhance individuals' well-being by lending an empathetic ear, facilitating on-site activities like mindfulness and sensory modulation, managing medications, maintaining our beautiful and tranquil residence, preparing meals, ensuring cleanliness, and welcoming clinical teams. You will work as part of a motivated team who are committed to wellbeing and sustainability.
You: You're a natural when it comes to caring with empathy and understand the power of working in a recovery-focused way, where individuals take care of their own journey, making you an ideal fit for this role.
- For our crisis respite services, applicants must hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognised equivalent, or are currently studying towards this qualification or a recognised equivalent
- A current full driver's licence
- Current first aid certificate or are you willing to obtain one
- Skills or experience in mindfulness and sensory modulation, or a willingness to develop these approaches to support guests' wellbeing
- Have knowledge of and demonstrate commitment to the principles of the Te Tiriti O Waitangi.
