Roving Reliever
We are seeking two permanent full-time Roving Relievers to provide high-quality administrative support across a range of services at Palmerston North Hospital. Salary range: $67,943 – $77,141

About the Role
As a Roving Reliever, you will provide flexible administration support across a variety of clinical and non-clinical services within Palmerston North Hospital. Working alongside administration, nursing, and medical teams, you will help ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of services through reception, patient booking, appointment coordination, data entry, and customer service activities.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety and can quickly adapt to different environments and teams. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate patient information, managing referrals and appointments, responding to enquiries, and delivering a high standard of service to patients, whānau, and stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be flexible, organised, and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
Hours of work: Full-time, maximum 8 hours per day between 7:00am and 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. Occasional evening hours may be required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven administration and customer service experience
- Excellent verbal, written, and telephone communication skills
- Strong computer, keyboard, and data entry skills
- Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of people
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgement
- Understanding of confidentiality, privacy, and professional standards
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while remaining adaptable to changing priorities
- Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and commitment to equitable health outcomes
Desirable:
- Experience in a healthcare environment
- Knowledge of patient booking systems
- Understanding of medical terminology

The Roving Reliever team provides vital administration support across a range of hospital departments. As part of the wider Business Performance and Support Services team, you will play an important role in ensuring patients receive timely access to care and administrative processes are completed efficiently and accurately.
