The Role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

We are looking for a Casual Registered Nurse to join our Auckland peer-led acute service that offers an alternative to hospital admission for those people experiencing acute mental distress.

This is a Casual position, with shifts across the full 24 hours, 7 days per week. Tupu Ake, our peer-led service in South Auckland, was one of the first mental health and wellbeing peer support services of its kind in New Zealand.

Our beautiful 1912 villa in Papatoetoe has always been a place of healing and rest. It was initially a homestead, then a convent, and a rest home, before being renovated for Pathways in 2008, becoming Tupu Ake. The peaceful, park-like garden provides a quiet setting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

You will need to have a scope of practice to work in mental health and utilise your clinical nursing skills to support our guests in their recovery. 6 core values of Peer Support: Mutuality, Experiential knowledge, Self-determination, Participation, Equity, Hope and well-being.

You'll also have:

  • Must have a New Zealand Registered Health Professional with a current practising certificate
  • Comprehensive and/or psychiatric scope, and the ability to work within the field of mental health.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral and excellent organisational skills
  • Hold a full clean New Zealand driver's licence
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to learn new computer programmes and skills
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Closing Date: Tuesday, 18th August 2026. Please note, this role may close early if a suitable candidate is found.
