About the Role

Join the Quality and Safe Use of Medicines Team to work in a diverse role that influences safe and effective medicine use. Whether you are in a similar role now or are looking to further develop your knowledge and skills, we welcome your application.

You will be involved with a variety of work undertaken by the Quality and Safe Use of Medicines (QSUM) Team, supporting medicine management across the organisation. From reviewing guidelines to answering medicine information queries to involvement with infusion pump medication safety software and prescriber orientation, this role contributes to organisational-wide medicine management and safety. As part of the QSUM Team, there may also be an opportunity to be involved with clinical trials and infectious diseases/antimicrobial stewardship.

This is a full time permanent position. Pharmacists are also usually rostered to work the occasional Saturday and can undertake on call duties if trained and required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Writing and reviewing medicine guidelines
  • Supporting medicines safety initiatives, including liaising with other teams in pharmacy
  • Answering medicine information queries
  • Pharmacy roles with infusion pump medication safety software
  • Providing pharmacy orientation to prescribers

About You

Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role.

  • Registration with Pharmacy Council of NZ, with a current Pharmacist Annual Practising Certificate (or able to register once period of supervision undertaken, as required by PCNZ);
  • Clinical/ward hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Previous medicine information training or experience with medicines safety initiatives desirable.
  • Post-graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy advantageous.
  • Good communication and organisational skills
