About the Role

We currently have an opening in our team for a Registered Nurse with a passion for Mental Health Nursing. In this full-time role (40 hours per week) working a 4 on 4 off rotating 12 hour roster that provides 24 hour coverage based in Whangarei you will provide a single point of entry service for acute and non-acute referrals to the service as well as dedicated phone line support.

You will conduct preliminary assessments of whether a person is likely to have a mental illness or disorder, and the nature of urgency of the response required against the ratified Triage scale. We aim to reduce wait times and provide the best experience we can for whānau under our care.

About the Team/Service/Location

Our Community Assessment & Treatment Team (CATT) is part of a group of community-based teams that provide acute specialist assessment and treatment for new and existing clients with Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Te Tai Tokerau Mental Health and Addictions Service.

About You

Our ideal applicant must:

  • Be a New Zealand registered nurse, with a current practicing certificate
  • Have two years experience in acute and/or kaupapa led community mental health practice working with tāngata whaiora and their whānau living with the effects of mental illness in our community
  • Be a Duly Authorised Officer or be willing to work towards the same
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to communicate well with tāngata whaiora, their whānau and colleagues, and engage Māori in making choices that enhance their wellbeing
  • Hold a current drivers licence
