Emergency Mental Health provides 24-hour assessment, treatment and support for people experiencing serious mental health issues. The team comprises of Registered Nurse, Allied Health, Psychology and Medical professionals and is supported by a strong and dynamic multi-disciplinary leadership group.

We are seeking experienced and enthusiastic registered nurses to join our team.

In this role you will:

  • Provide timely mental health assessments, crisis interventions and short-term intensive treatment
  • Work collaboratively with service users, whanau/families, and partner agencies to ensure safe and effective care
  • Work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment where no two days are the same

Skills and Experience

  • Registered Nurse with current APC and mental health scope
  • Have a full New Zealand driver's license
  • Experience in mental health settings preferred (ideally in crisis or acute areas). However, support and education will be provided for the right candidate
  • Skilled in risk assessment, crisis intervention and de-escalation
  • Able to remain calm, compassionate and solution focused under pressure
  • A strong communicator who thrives in a team but can also work autonomously
  • Knowledge of and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Ideally you will be a Duly Authorised Officer who has been trained and signed off as being able to facilitate the MHA, if not currently a DAO applicants for this position will be willing to undertake this paid three day DAO training as provided by the Waitaha Canterbury.
