Assistant Restaurant Manager

We are looking for an Assistant Restaurant Manager to help manage our popular Indian Restaurant in the Waikato Region.

The successful candidate will work under guidance and direction from the Restaurant Manager, and will also "cover" the Restaurant Manager when they’re on leave or otherwise engaged.

Responsibilities will include the following:

• Assist with the efficient management of the restaurant, performing tasks assigned by the Restaurant Manager.
• Managing and maintaining food, service and health and safety standards.
• Assist with recruiting, training, supervising and managing restaurant employees.
• Supervising marketing and promotional activities.
• Assist with managing stock levels.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Assist with managing compliance relating to health and safety and food safety.
• Reporting on activities and outcomes.

Requirements:

• 2+ years’ relevant/transferrable experience or a relevant tertiary qualification.
• Good working knowledge of Indian cuisine, menus and ingredients, as the role involves dealing with suppliers and liaising with chefs.
• Good communication skills.
• Willing to work weekends and evenings.

Pay Rate:

• $28 to $32 per hour (depending on experience).

Hours:

As this is a full-time position, you will be guaranteed a minimum of 30 hours per week, but will likely be required to work approximately 40 hours per week, Monday to Sunday. As is common in the hospitality sector, work may also be necessary over weekends and evenings.  The position is ongoing.
