Kindred Hospital Limited is based in Epsom, Auckland, and we provide a comprehensive range of services to meet the unique needs of our residents . We are currently looking for two caregivers to join our awesome team.

You will be expected to work at our premises in Epsom, Auckland, a minimum of 30 hours per week according to a roster. Please note this is a permanent full-time role and the hourly pay rate would be $25.00-$29.00 based on the candidates' experience and skills.

Job Description for This Position

·         Assist residents with personal care, including bathing, showering, toileting, dressing, grooming and oral hygiene.

·         Support residents with mobility, transfers, repositioning and walking, using approved equipment and safe handling techniques.

·         Accompany and support residents during daily routines, appointments, recreational activities and outings.

·         Provide companionship, reassurance and emotional support, particularly to residents experiencing confusion, anxiety or behavioural changes.

·         Assist with meals, snacks and fluids, including meal preparation or service where required, and report concerns regarding residents’ nutrition or hydration.

·         Organise and support appropriate social, recreational, cognitive and physical activities according to residents’ abilities and care plans.

·         Assist residents to maintain their independence by encouraging participation in everyday activities and personal choices.

·         Perform light housekeeping duties, including keeping residents’ rooms, personal spaces and shared areas clean, tidy and safe.

·         Undertake shopping, errands or other practical assistance for residents when directed.

·         Follow each resident’s individualised care plan and all reasonable directions given by registered nurses or senior staff.

·         Observe residents’ physical, emotional and behavioural condition and promptly report any concerns or changes to the appropriate senior staff member.

·         Accurately document care provided, observations, incidents and other relevant information.

·         Communicate respectfully with residents, families, visitors and colleagues while maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.

·         Protect residents’ privacy, dignity, cultural values, individual preferences and rights at all times.

·         Follow all infection-control, hygiene, manual-handling, emergency, medication-safety and workplace health and safety procedures.

·         Complete only those delegated care tasks for which appropriate training and authorisation have been provided.

·         Maintain residents’ living environment in a safe, comfortable and homely condition.

·         Participate in staff training, meetings and ongoing professional development.

·         Perform other reasonable caregiving duties consistent with the nature of the position.

 

Key Requirements for Successful Applicant

·         At least two years' relevant work experience in health care; OR

·         A relevant diploma/certificate at or above level 4 in health care or; OR

·         A bachelor's degree or higher qualification in any field. Applicants without direct industry experience may still be considered, as comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided. 

·         Fluency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese would be an advantage, as part of our residents communicate in these languages.

·         Good communication skills, caring attitude, and ability to work under pressure.

·         Ability to work unsupervised and use your initiative.

·         Be empathetic, reliable, responsible and punctual
