We are seeking an Intern Pharmacist to join our team. You will be based at our pharmacy in Whanganui. You may be rostered to work at any time during our opening hours, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.30pm and may be required to work on weekends or public holidays if the pharmacy extends its opening hours.
You will have an experienced Pharmacist Preceptor and other team members supporting your training.
The pay for this position is $30 an hour for 40 hours per week.
Your key tasks (under the supervision of a pharmacist) include, but are not limited to:
- · assisting the pharmacist(s) with the dispensing process
- · ensuring prescriptions are safe and appropriate for the patient
- · ensuring all prescriptions comply with legislative and contractual requirements
- · supervising dispensing staff throughout the dispensing process
- · managing pharmacy stock levels effectively
- · keeping up-to-date with changes to the PHARMAC Pharmaceutical Schedule
- · providing expert advice to patients regarding the safe and appropriate use of all medicines
- · assessing patient's symptoms, provide advice about treatment options and identify patients requiring a referral
- · creating and maintaining effective relationships with patients, customers, staff and other key persons
To be able to apply, you will need to have:
- · A relevant tertiary qualification in Pharmacy (bachelor's degree or higher)
- · Valid Annual Practising Certificate from the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand (Intern scope at the minimum)
You will preferably also:
- · have at least one year traineeship / relevant work experience
- · be enrolled or in the process of enrolling in the Pharmacy Society of New Zealand Pharmacy Intern Training Programme (EVOLVE)
You must have a clear criminal record and must be able to pass a drug test if required.
