Permanent/ Full - Time 80 Hours per fortnight 1 FTE

About the Role

As a Laboratory Administrator - Histology, you will play an essential role in supporting our Histology service by providing high-quality administrative and secretarial support to pathologists and technical staff. From typing pathology reports and registering histology specimens to responding to enquiries and coordinating multidisciplinary meeting information, you will help ensure the smooth and efficient operation of a busy laboratory service.

This is a varied and rewarding role where accuracy, organisation and attention to detail are highly valued. You'll work closely with a dedicated team of healthcare professionals, contributing to timely diagnostic services that have a direct impact on patient care, including supporting faster cancer treatment pathways.

About the Team/Service/Location

Our Histology team within Laboratory Services provides critical diagnostic support for clinicians and patients across Hawke's Bay. We are a collaborative and supportive team committed to delivering accurate, timely and high-quality laboratory services that contribute to improved patient outcomes.

Based in Hastings, you'll join a professional environment where teamwork, continuous improvement and excellent customer service are highly valued.

About You

As a Laboratory Administrator, you will bring:

  • Proven administrative experience, including strong data entry and computer skills.
  • Previous medical typing experience with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications and managing multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a professional telephone manner.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a team while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
