Manage day-to-day accounting tasks and payroll for dental equipment company part-time

Sole Charge Accounts Support

My client is a highly successful and well-established company providing specialist equipment repair and maintenance services to the dental industry across New Zealand. With over 50 years in the business, they have built an impressive depth of knowledge and technical expertise, supporting dental clinics nationwide with reliable, high-quality service.

We are looking for a reliable and capable Sole charge Accounts Support person to join the team on a part-time basis (approx. 20 - 25 hours/week), ideally spread across 4-5 weekdays. This is a long-term, permanent position and is well suited to someone seeking part-time hours—such as a parent working within school hours. (Please note: This role is not suitable for students.)

You'll take ownership of the day-to-day accounting functions and support broader business operations as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing daily financial report for management.
  • Process weekly payroll for 24 staff using MYOB IMS
  • Enter timesheets, process expenses, and manage credit card payments via EWAY
  • Update and maintain staff records
  • Prepare and file end-of-month IRD reports
  • Enter/Schedule local and international payments
  • Manage Accounts Receivable and credit control.
  • Handle Accounts Payable, including reconciliations and invoice matching
  • Ensuring payments are processed correctly
  • Prepare GST returns
  • Enter invoices for consumables, stationery, power, z energy etc.
  • Answer internal/external finance queries and run ad hoc reports
  • Enter stock/parts invoices and update inventory records in AroFlo.
  • Back up the phones if the rest of the team is busy.

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Good overall accounting skills and experience in a similar role (5+ years)
  • Systems savvy with proficiency in Xero, MYOB IMS Payroll and Excel,
  • Proactive, organised work habits.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Reliable, trustworthy and committed
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • A self-starter, with piles of initiative and a can-do attitude.

Remuneration: Between $33- $37 per hour depending on experience
