About the Role

As a Health Care Assistant in the Cardiology Department, you will support Registered and Enrolled Nurses with patient care and ward activities, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. Your role will include assisting patients with daily tasks, maintaining equipment, completing delegated clinical and clerical duties, and helping to create a positive, safe and efficient ward environment.

You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team, treating all patients with dignity and respect, supporting their comfort, and contributing to effective patient flow. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, teamwork, and helping people during important stages of their care and recovery.

About the Team/Service/Location

The Cardiology Department at Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldier Memorial Hospital provides care for patients requiring acute and elective cardiology services. You’ll be part of a collaborative, supportive team of nurses, allied health staff, medical staff and administrators who value professionalism, teamwork and patient-centred care.

About You

You are caring, organised and committed to supporting others. You will have:

• NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) Health Assistance, or be enrolled and actively working toward it, or willing to commence within six months of employment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Respectful, patient-focused approach with a commitment to confidentiality.
• Reliability, initiative and the ability to adapt within a busy clinical environment.
• Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and commitment to equitable care.

Desired:

• Experience applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi in a healthcare setting.
• Previous experience in a hospital or cardiology environment would be advantageous.
