About the Role

Health New Zealand Wairarapa is looking for a motivated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our palliative care (Kahukura) team. The Kahukura team provides specialist palliative nursing care, advice and support to patients and their whānau within their own homes and across various healthcare settings. The primary focus of this role is to assess, plan, co-ordinate, provide and evaluate high quality palliative nursing care to patients and their whānau in the Wairarapa community. There is a requirement to work across the whole of the Wairarapa.

These are casual positions working 0 - 80 hours per fortnight, as and when required. Applicants must be available at short notice to cover any shift, including weekends and evenings at times.

To be eligible to apply for this position, you must be a New Zealand citizen or hold a permanent resident or permanent work visa status.

About the Team/Service/Location

The Community Nursing teams deliver community and outpatient services from two locations, based in Masterton and Greytown. They provide care to people in their own homes and in outpatient clinics, and work closely alongside specialist Health NZ services, primary care and community providers. Patients present with a diverse range of needs that require community nursing care, specialist nursing management and / or short-term home supports.

About You

  • We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Registered Nurse with a minimum of three years' postgraduate experience, preferably in a community setting. A postgraduate qualification within palliative care is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Current annual practicing certificate with New Zealand Nursing Council
  • A full clean driver's licence is essential.
