J&M CHINZ Limited, trading as Blue Seas Motel, is located in Kaikōura, Canterbury, New Zealand. We provides accommodation services to domestic and international visitors. We are now looking for a motel manager to join our team.

You will be expected to work at our premise located in Kaikōura, a minimum of 40 hours per week permanent full-time role and the hourly pay rate would be $30-$35 based on the candidates' experience.

As Motel Manager, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the motel, with a strong focus on Front Office and the guest experience. You’ll lead and support the team, ensure motel operations run smoothly, and be a visible point of contact for guests and team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee the daily operations of the motel and ensure service standards are consistently maintained
  • Manage reservations, guest enquiries, check-ins and check-outs professionally and efficiently.
  • Monitor occupancy levels and assist with revenue management strategies.
  • Handle guest feedback, concerns, and service recovery situations with professionalism and care
  • Supervise housekeeping, reception and operational activities to ensure seamless operations.
  • Arrange staff scheduling, training and performance management.
  •  Prepare operational reports and maintain business records.
  • Liaise with suppliers, contractors and service providers.
  • Support marketing activities and online booking platform management.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and company policies.

Key Requirements

  • Applicants must have either at least three years of relevant experience in accommodation or hospitality management, or a relevant diploma-level qualification in Hospitality, Tourism or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of property management systems (PMS) and online travel agency (OTA) platforms.
  • Experience using property management software such as Little Hotelier is an advantage.
  •  Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to work on weekends, public holidays and be on-call for after-hours emergencies.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing and social media promotion skills would be advantageous.
  • Fluent in Mandarin is preferred as we have many Mandarin-speaking customers, additional language skills are an advantage.
