About the Graduate Nursing Role

As a Graduate RN at Kimihia Home, you'll build confidence in clinical decision-making, develop leadership & communication skills, and overall professional development.

You'll be supported by experienced RNs and our Clinical Education team, who bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise in aged care nursing. You'll gain hands-on experience in assessment, care planning, medication management, documentation & compliance, clinical reasoning, and responding to changing resident needs.

At Kimihia, we have been committed to helping graduate nurses transition successfully into practice while developing the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed for a rewarding nursing career.

Start Date: Preferably ASAP

Key Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centred nursing care to residents.
• Assess residents' health needs and support the development of individualised care plans.
• Administer medications safely and monitor residents' wellbeing.
• Work closely with caregivers, GPs, families/whānau, and the wider healthcare team.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and communicate changes in residents' health.
• Support residents to live with dignity, comfort, and respect.
• Assist with wound care, health monitoring, and other clinical interventions under guidance and supervision.
• Contribute to a safe, positive, and supportive care environment.
• Participate in ongoing learning, professional development, and quality improvement activities.

Requirements

• Qualification: Bachelor's degree in nursing from a recognised institution.
• Registration: Current or pending registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council.
• Skills: Strong communication, empathy, and teamwork skills.
• Eligibility: Must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand.
• Knowledge of NZ Health & Disability Services Standards
• Basic knowledge of electronic documentation systems
