Emergency Department House Officers (PGY2 or above) 2027 RMO Training Year Start date: From 18 January 2027 About the Role Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, MidCentral District's Emergency Department is an Australasian Level 4 regional trauma centre, managing approximately 55,000 presentations per year. It is a mixed Emergency Department and is an ACEM Tier 2 non-major referral ED and TS4 ED site with accreditation for 24 months of training under the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) training programme.

Our ED manages a high volume of trauma and high‑acuity paediatric and adult medical presentations. RMOs can expect regular exposure to a wide range of critical procedures and complex pathology.

We offer access to excellent accredited non‑Emergency Department rotations, including: Anaesthesia Paediatric Medicine General Medicine Cardiology We are a close‑knit team of FACEMs who are strongly committed to the professional development of our registrars and house officers, and to providing a supportive and engaging training environment.

Our RMOs enjoy a weekly, structured, protected teaching programme which is consultant led and delivered using an array of teaching strategies and features dedicated cultural competence, cultural safety and paediatric emergency medicine teaching. RMO will also benefit from structured logbook to enhance learning and experience in ED. There is an embedded mentoring programme and plentiful opportunities for involvement in clinical research and departmental non-clinical portfolios.
