Salary Band – $75,773 to $106,739 p.a pro-rata + KiwiSaver

About the Role

The Triage Nurse is responsible for managing and coordinating referrals into the Mental Health Service for Older People. This role provides a single point of clinical intake, ensuring referrals are assessed, prioritised, and directed to the most appropriate service in a timely manner.

This role will:

• Works collaboratively with referrers, consumers, whānau, and multidisciplinary teams to facilitate safe, effective, and person-centred care.
• Be responsible for coordinating and assessing referrals.
• Undertake clinical triage and risk assessment.
• Ensure people receive timely access to appropriate mental health services.
• Work closely with referrers, multidisciplinary teams, consumers, and whānau across the Southern district to support high-quality, person-centred care.

About You

We are seeking a clinician with strong assessment skills, sound clinical judgement, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to improving outcomes for older people experiencing mental health challenges.

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Registration with the Nursing Council of NZ and a current APC with a scope that allows you to practice in mental health
• Exceptional communication skills with a non-judgmental manner along with a positive attitude
• Additional clinical skills in the areas of physical health and addictions could be a significant advantage
• Experience working within an adult mental health environment
