About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Day Patient Services team at Timaru Hospital.

As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will provide safe, contemporary, patient-focused nursing care to patients undergoing a range of medical and surgical procedures. This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same, offering the opportunity to work closely with patients and whānau throughout their healthcare journey.

You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care while supporting patients through admission, treatment, and discharge processes. Working collaboratively with medical, nursing, and allied health colleagues, you will contribute to delivering high-quality care and ensuring positive patient outcomes.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand • A current Annual Practising Certificate (APC) • Demonstrated competency in medical and/or surgical nursing practice • A commitment to delivering safe, high-quality patient-centred care • Strong assessment, clinical decision-making, and care planning skills • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • The ability to build positive relationships with patients, whānau, and colleagues • Proven organisation and prioritisation skills • The ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing priorities • Sound computer literacy and experience using clinical information systems • A commitment to continuous professional development and quality improvement initiatives • A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving equitable health outcomes for Māori

Desirable:

• Previous experience in day patient, perioperative, surgical, or medical nursing environments • Participation in a Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP) • Experience contributing to quality improvement, audit, or risk management activities

Salary Range

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the NZNO Collective Agreement and the salary will be in accordance with the applicable pay scale and dependent on experience.
